According to on-site sources, the new GB7258 standard will be officially issued at the end of 2011. As for the brake system retarder chapter, the national regulations will be fully implemented in 24 months from the date of official promulgation of the regulations.

At the seminar, representatives of truck enterprises all agreed with this, believing that the implementation of this provision will bring higher security to domestic trucks. However, some enterprises previously installed retarders, which brought cost pressure or brand influence with other truck enterprises, were also resolved due to the promulgation of the standard.

The standard JT/T325 Classification and Rating of Operating Passenger Cars issued by the Ministry of Communications in 1997 stipulated that the retarder must be installed on large and medium-sized high-class II and high-class III operating highway passenger cars when it was revised in 2002.
